Our History
Barrow 1618 derives its name from its rich history. In 1618, John Slaney, Lord of Marsh, granted a school in Barrow to cater for the "poor boys" of the developing, rural community.
For almost 400 years, the school in Barrow has catered for local communities and striven to offer a free, moral, practical and diverse education. The school's rich history are still evident today, both in the fabric of original school buildings and in the traditions and principles of our happy school community.
